School of Chaplaincy (Feb & Mar, 2019)

Living Shield Ministries School of Chaplaincy (40 hours)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Chaplaincy is a cutting-edge ministry which allows one to reach out to—not only the faith community, but the secular community as well. Though looked upon as spiritual, a chaplain’s primary purpose is secular in nature, for he/she is able to provide crisis intervention to those who have experienced trauma in their lives. A trained chaplain is able to provide both emotional and spiritual care to people. Chaplains are not “clergy” with a different title. Some are clergy, but many are simply men and women who have a heart of compassion for the hurting, and who have been trained in how to come alongside those in crisis and help bring some stability to their lives. Chaplains are able to serve those in government as well as those in the community (law enforcement, fire, EMS, military, district attorney, schools, hospital, hospice, prisons, corrections, corporations, etc.). There is not a place on the planet where a chaplain could not be of service to people. Properly trained Chaplains are able to encourage others while ministering to the whole person, addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Trained and ordained/licensed chaplains are able to provide crisis intervention, stress management techniques, grief counseling, advocacy, and spiritual care to first-responders and the community when necessary.
